Migrate classic to new Google Sites

Migrate classic to new Google Sites

Limitations

Tables - Converted to HTML in Embed Box

Since new Google Sites does not support tables the conversion tool takes your tabular array's HTML code and adds it to an embed code box. The migration process does a good task of keeping all of the HTML for the tables but te resulting tabular array may not look exactly the same in the Embed Code box of new Sites as information technology did in the classic Google Site as the embed code box does not inherit the fashion from the new Sites.

Embedded Content from Google products - Retained

Anything embedded from Google Drive, Maps, Calendar, Groups or YouTube volition appear on your new Site's pages.

Limitations

  • Charts from Google Sheets are lost and you volition need to manually embed again - see:

  • Since the files are now in Google Drive and not on the site the files will not exist found in the site search.

  • You need to get to Google Bulldoze to add further files, you cannot just do it at the site.

  • Whatever links that were in a file cabinet are just text on the page and so they look inconsistent and different from the files.

  • In that location's no Recently updated files gadget

Motion List Page Content to Google Sheets

The migration tool makes a Google Sail of the list items and embeds the sheet on the equivalent new Google Sites Page

Limitations

  • Since the list items are no longer on the site they are not indexed in the site search.

  • Now the listing items are a sheet in Google Bulldoze y'all cannot edit the listing items on the site but need to open the Google Sheet to make changes.

  • The column types are not preserved but some of the content is:

    • Text columns are preserved as it's but text

    • If a tick box is ticked it's represented every bit on in the sail and zilch if unticked

    • The value of drop-down boxes are preserved but the migration tool does not add data validation to the column in the sheet to make a drop-downward

    • The web addresses are preserved from URL columns simply all the display text is lost

  • In that location's no Recent list items gadget

How can I go back to archetype Google Sites?

If yous wish to revert to classic Sites this depends on what you have done so far. Be aware that if you do not want to apply new Google Sites your classic Site is yet going to be deleted and yous need to move to a new platform regardless.   1. Make a copy of the original site in Migrated Sites to a temporary URL

  2. Delete the new Google Site at the original URL
